hello everybody, after weeks of watching Gordons reviews and a lot of umming and arring i have finally bought my very first dslr camera, which is a canon. I am extremely pleased have taken many pictures of anything that moved and anything that didnt. I m a grown woman so any constructive criticism i can take on the chin , and eventually hope to improve, but the main thing is i thoroughly enjoy taking photos. What a great forum, many thanks to all involved.

i really like detail and dof on the snail its a very good pic althougt the background looks strange and i dont reaaly know why ... maybe its just me.

The second picture doesnt really appeal to me, the flower looks like an interesting texture ... like crumpled paper but it looks like most of the detail of the folds is lost in exposure and there's not enough colour in the petals to make up for it.

Maybe play around with the exposure and get closer?
