Took the 50mm for a spin today!

Very nice lens indeed, not so hard with the MF. Getting alot better at it. I was going to shoot some photos of some ducks for patti, but when i got a bit to close the mother duck attacked me and almost took a bite of my leg, i just dodged it

Hi alex168,

Those are great shots! Good lighting and colors. Textures and details very crisp. Looks ready to eat almost..lol.

What did you do for a black background on the first one and what lighting did you use. The angle looks a little too high to be your flash it seems to me?

Good contrasted surface on the second one and and a nice shallow DOF too. What plant is that leaf from? The lighting looks very white - LEDs or halogen perhaps? Or did you just handle that with the white-balance?

Nicely done.

Cheers :-)

Thanks Lah,

well to answer your questions, all of these where shot outside. Nothing was really done indoors! Apart from a tad post processing.

The first shot, i just used a crazy fast shutter speed-which blurred and turned the background black. As far the the lightning comes on that shot it was the sun, coming from camera right top so to speak. If that makes any sense.

That leaf is a more like a petal from a tulip that was just laying about in the sun. So what i did is that i moved it to the shade (very sunny day) but placed in a location so "some" light would come through so to speak. The WB on that shot was i dont know :P.
