I added a couple tools to my, Macro tool kit. Before I go and name them I should explain they way I named my DIY products. First off theres the JO (Jake O'Connell) then a 1(or two) letter abbriviation for what the product is for, in this case m for macro and then a two letter abbr. for what the product is (ex: sb=softbox) an a number.
SO in my Kit I have a:
JO-L-FM1 (Fisheye Macro lens)
Then I have the JO-M-RF1 Ringlight Flash
The two new additions:
JO-M-SB1 and JO-M-TL1 (Softbox and Twin Light)
Now, lets talk about the new additions, the softbox, very self explanatory, it made out of foam and the power behind it is one of those LED lights you see over on the right.
Now if you've seen the canon and Nikon Twin Flash units for macro this is the same idea, Although a 25 spindle cd holder some sew on velcro that I've glued and stapled on and some cuts and tape a twin flash does not make. This is definetaly going to be replaced someday when I come up with a better system, it doesn't work well because a it doesn't fit the lens well, and of course, b, you can't really control the light. You're holding the assembly on the camera, and the camera, can't really adjust the lights.
Let my know what you think of these ideas aswell. I love to hear the feedback on my DIY stuff. I have some samples on my flickr of the softbox and such.
And if you're interested in my DIY stuff, keep and eye out for my
PVC Magic arm
Should have that done by next monday.
