I've had my DSLR for a few weeks now, and one of my favorite uses of it is taking macro shots. Eventually, I'll plop down the money for a legitimate macro lens and an extender so I can get some really marvelous close-ups, but for now, I have to make due with my 18-55. :D

Here's one I took yesterday, it's been given an HDR treatment thru Photomatix, and I really like the way it came out. The colors and DoF almost make it resemble a painting.

This one was a very impromptu picture taken as I saw a spider speeding across the rug. It froze in position just long enough for me to get to the ground and fire off a shot!

This is one of the first macro shots I took that came out pretty good. It's a flower in Mystic, CT and taken as the sun was setting.

And here's my submission from last month's Assignment contest. I'm wary of posting it again buuuuut I liked the way it came out and wanted to post a higher resolution shot than what is in the assignment thread. This is the first macro shot I took after getting my first tripod.

nice shots, I like the colors on the yellow flower. I'd like to get a macro lens one day too. Did you take care of that nasty looking spider after that pic? :? Wouldn't like that crawling around the house.
