Very good photo of the rose. Can't really fault it apart but for perhaps more interesting lighting; you can clearly see the use of the flash. I'd prefer a more natural light, if not a diffused flash.
The out of focus effect is so extreme you might think it was taken with a gray paper background.
Yes, so much so that only the tip of the furthest left petal is in focus. Other than the photo being practically completely out of focus, I don't like the composition. The flower is pointing away; for floral photography it's always more pleasing to see the flower facing at the camera at a slight angle, rather like your rose.
Sorry if I sound negative on your second image, but there's so much wrong with it. Keep snapping and practicing. I'm sure you can get it right.
