I'm still new in this photography stuff...

....... you are off to a flying start....... nice work and welcome

Too bad the first one is a bit blurry, otherwise it'd have been my favorite (I just love the butterfly's eyes). The second is nice, and the third is definitely my favorite (orange !). Keep up the good work !

Lovely shots and great captures for your first macro. I particularly like number two for the vibrant colours of the wings, you must have been really close. If this is your fist attempt I can't wait to see your macto shots a few months from now. Well done and thanks for sharing.

The first image is perfectly focused. A golden rule for good pictures of animals and in portraits is to get the eyes in focus and sharp. You have here. It's only the motion blur of the wings that causes the blur to the left of the frame. What I would suggest is a much tighter crop so that you emphasise those eyes. It's only a shame the butterfly didn't have more colours.

Image two is out of focus - you've got the wing but not the eyes. Sorry, this one doesn't do it for me.

Image three is a crisp shot, but because the eyes are looking away, compositionally it's weaker than the other two.

btw: these shots were taken in the Butterfly Conservatory - Niagara falls-Ontario. It was really fun

I think these are all great shots. Could you please post a bit more about technical details of your shots, like shutter speed, aperture, lens, etc.?

I've posted the details you asked for below each picture but honestly because the camera is a p&s with a small sensor & a fixed lens all the numbers are not as you'll expect them in a dslr "because of the corp factor & sensor size"

& being a p&s i didn't get to play with the camera setting ((just switched to macro mode & took those pictures))

sorry for not being so helpful but I'll be getting a dslr soon and be a real photographer
