I just received my set of Kenko extension tubes, and I thought I'd try them out with the macro shot set up in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqBVWlrHqG8

Here's my attempt:


Canon 1000D/Rebel XS
50mm f1.8 lens
Kenko extension tubes (I've been playing with the extension tubes for a while, so I can't quite remember. I think I had both the 12mm and the 36mm attached.)
Aperture: f4
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1.6s

I wasn't quite prepared for how shallow the depth of field would be. Parts of the bubbles along the edge of the lemon slice are in focus, but the front of the slice is not quite in focus. That puts the depth of field at less than a few millimeters. (Either that, or there just wasn't as much texture on the side of the lemon slice as I thought there would be. I never was able to get it in sharp focus.)

Post processing on both photos was just a little tweaking of saturation and curves, and maybe a little sharpening. Any comments and criticism are welcome.
