It's a friendly wasp in his nest this is the nearest I could manage to get there for a profile photo. ;)

I though about left hand the wasp nest for added stability but abandoned the idea :(

Oh my god! This is just amazing! The bad thing is that after every new picture of your's I seem get an urge to give up my newly refound hobby as I get a feeling that I will never EVER get there! :) :(

The results are just a matter of the place were the insects are (a good insect field is the best insect macro gear), and patience to capture them, some are very active while others, even bettwen same species, could be more steady, cooled down or just sleeping. The technique is important but surely you will learn it, insect approximation is the hard part.

Canon T1i with Canon MP-E 65mm @ 3x . 580 EX II flash, bracket mounted, with a LumiQuest Mini SoftBox diffuser near the lens and silver bounce at right. Focus stack from two handheld images.
