Thanks oldCarlos.

I was having a neb at your flickr, your bird set in particular, what lens were you using for the smaller birds? Really good set.
Think I might have a stab at small birds next. Any pointers would be appreciated.

I'm still learning WB, so don't expect me to know much.
Most were taken with my 300mm F2.8 + 1.7TC (=500mm)
tbh you can't usually have too much reach for birds & I know of 'togs who use 500mm or 600mm lenses AND teleconverters!

As with most things, unless you're loaded, there will have to be compromises, either in quality of glass, or reach.....or both.

Might be a silly question, but have you heard of `astroscoping`?

Well oldCarlos, from the standard you are producing, in my humble opinion you know more than enough. I will be keeping an eye out for more pics getting added to your flickr.

300 2.8 = £££s = :(

Sorry never heard of 'Astroscoping', am intrigued though.

By the way, astroscoping is a really useful thing, and thanks for sharing the link oldCarlos :)
