Go to Amazon.com. Enter Portrait Photography in the Books section. Pick a couple that look good, read the reviews, buy the book(s), and study like crazy. If it still looks interesting, take a portraiture class in your local area. Good luck.

Before buying an book, I think I'm going to ask a friend to be the model and to take some pictures in a park and to see if I will get bored. :)
