I guess I was just confused on why he would edit on his boss's computer and not his own computer.

You see can grain? I can't - and it was shot at 200 ISO...

Why would they be edited on her computer? Mainly because I'm not being paid to edit them just now.

She shoots jpg because her computer would take forever to edit RAW files, and trust me I get annoyed at my pc taking more than a second to load a 10MP RAW file haha!

I said to her, could I shoot in RAW+JPG, but she isn't that technologically minded (aka geeky lol) as I am, so she said she'd prefer to just do JPG until she upgrades the computers.

But oh trust me, I wish I could shoot in RAW, gettin all the detail in the dress is SOLID with the exposures changing on a second by second basis. Even in AV the camera meter just can't keep up so if 1/400th @ f/4 ISO 100 was fine one second, it won't be the next!


BTW GRAIN - Why is everyone so against grain? I love grain! It gives a much more natural feel to the photos. Also, remember your viewing the images at 72dpi; at 300dpi (or higher?) the grain will almost be un-noticeable. I didnt use any or much noise reduction because I felt that would take away from the feeling.

GRAIN = GOOD, not everything has to be 100% noise free =)

Seems like you have faced a harsh noon sunlight outdoor.
But you manage it pretty well. good job.

There are of course many photographs deserve better retouching, but it's
all depends on the taste and style.

I do not see any noticeable grains like other but I see some CA in bright
sunlight. But it might not noticeable in the small print or web.

I agree Daniel. Grain can add a new feeling to a photo, like you say - more natural.

I guess your images are alright for a first timer. The photojournalistic style is too popular with the wedding photographic industry at the moment. The images need to tell a story, or in combination tell a story. I feel you lack that from that perspective.

There's good use of the monochrome with the "Emotional moments" image - it conceals the blown highlights. However I can't but help wonder how that image would look with a square crop.

The image in the stadium with the bride and groom is underexposed - if you had off-camera lighting, a cross lighting approach would make a more dynamic image, but I do like the angle you chose.

The impression I get from viewing all your images (posted past and present) is that you take images from eye level all too often. The variation with height is a fundamental in the photojournalistic arsenal - we aim to look for a perspective that is not seen often, or gives a powerful impression. Playing with viewpoint will open some of these elements.
