I usually shoot landscapes/scenery and wildlife so a few days ago I thought I’d try my hand at candid portraits. I made a list of scenarios and went out with a friend and his little nephew, and pretty much kept my finger on continuous fire in the hope that I’d get a few keepers. I ended up trashing a load, but I think it was worth it as I’m happy with the results. Here are a few of the best ones:
All the ones I liked the most were all vertically orientated, which is unusual for me, but I guess that’s why they call it “landscape” and “portrait”!
They were all taken with my Nikkor 18-200 and even though I’ve got the 50mm f1.8 I decided not to use it because I hate being restricted to one focal length…call me lazy!! I do regret it though because the images just weren’t as sharp as they could have been.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the afternoon shooting and now I’m thinking of getting a new zoom lens, but in the shorter range, something between 20 and 80mm. Any recommendations would be welcome along with any feedback on the pics.
