I took a few shots of myself.. not really for show just for my avatar.. heres one..

In this picture that flash im using is actually about 35 years old and it works like a charm.. sure its full manual but its pretty powerful and im starting to get the hang of it.. I have shoot full manual with it and instead of compensating the flash i have to adjust my aperture accordingly and also shoot in flash WB there i can also adjust the brightness ect. I just shoot it anywhere with the shutter speed depending on the lighting. Its fun to you use once you get the hang of it.. i love bouncing it off the ceiling wall ect. its so much fun and gives great results.
