Every three years there is some reenactment of medieval times (around 1600) near Nuremberg in Bavaria.
I found this a good opportunity to do some test-shots with the Sigma AF 85/1.4 EX DG HSM and its competitor from Nikon, the AF-S 85/1.4G.
The following is my favorite:

But there are other images that portrait people dressing up for these "Wallenstein Festspiele". Have a look here

This one is from last night:

Image
Fire Dance 55740 by Thomas, on Flickr

Nikon AF-S 85/1.4G shot on D800 at f1.4, 1/125 sec, ISO 640. Developed from RAW in Lightroom to Camera Standard settings apart from CA-red=ON, sharpening at 70/0.5/36/10, NR at 25 luminance / 50 color.

Had lots of trouble to find a position to shoot through the crowd in front of me although I'm quite tall. But in this case it concentrates the view quite favorably.

It's always going to be difficult with so many people, you have to take what you can get. I like it.

Cheers

Nice shots! The last one looks like a really interesting festival to go to, pretty cool :)

Thanks for your kind words.
I'm not really a street/people-shooter so the experience was new to me.
But I learned a lot...

Great pictures, very sensitive in a way. The only thing bothering me is the woman in the background in the pic with the two girls. If you had waited of course, you wouldn't have caught that great expression on the face of the girl on the left.
