The fish aren't easy to shoot - no room to compose and very cluttered backgrounds.

No idea - it does look a little "Stalag" style from the '40s

I suspect these are trader license numbers. Most market traders from food to financial use some sort of labelling to tell you who is an official trader.

Back to the fish shots, you can almost smell the atmosphere there.
