Well, took a few pictures of my photography buddy (lol) Katie (We both come from our school to the other school to do it)

Anyway, I've not done in the way of portraiture, and we only had a few snaps with natural daylight and a reflector, plus it was using a D70, which I had no idea how to use and only had what seemed like seconds to get the photos.

Anyway, this one is my favorite.

Hi Daniel, nicely done, especially with just daylight... were you outside? What was used as a background?

While I appreciate the editing you've done, I prefer either the original, or an untouched black and white. I'm also a sucker for hard black and white, so would personally have experimented with higher contrast and sharpening on the B&W version to see if it benefits. Not all subjects do though.

Inside classroom, sun facing window light only + Reflector w/ Black Material for background ( sorry I don't know what its made of, but its like pretty heavy and thick)

I'll be doing a plain black & white one two, with more adjustments on contrast and levels. -although my lightroom trial has run out, need to buy it! Much faster to use for that stuff an photoshop.

Taken with a D70, so its ok, but I didn't know how to play about with the settings in class since we didn't have much time to take a photo each.

Personally I do like the original better too.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2357/202 ... d13b_b.jpg - Katie + Teapot

Done with 200w Tungsten light, no reflectors, no daylight - Lit from bottom.

Kettle and sunglasses are props - had to use props for that one.

Does Katie have a similar selection of you Daniel? I know I can't be the only one who'd like to see you with the glasses and teapot...!

Ah well you see, there is a story to this ... lol!

Our bus broke down on the monday morning in question, and I had to get a service bus to try and get in to photography on time (since its like the only descent class I have) so got there like 5min late, and Katie's friend was late (who doesn't go to photography), so Katie didn't get the bandanna I was going to have as a prop so I improvised and used my camera as one. Although I still have my school shirt on, instead of a hoodie or something - so mine doesn't look as good.

I'll maybe lob 1 of them on flickr tonight, and just post the link here.

Katie was close to making me wear the sunglasses though if i didn't think of a prop!

Nice Shots Daniel. I too prefer the unedited one!
