Nice shots! I personally preferred the second one, looks quite nicer, has a better composition in my opinion

With city scapes it's always going to be difficult with composition, if we look at the rule of thirds then this one certainly complies with the church in that position. No much you can do about the crane, all in all I think it's good.

I like the composition and natural colours of the 2nd one.

The second picture is my favourite. I like the bright heather in the foreground.

4xxxx - The crane annoyed me in this shot but not as much as the work force in high viz jackets in the bottom right of the frame. Apparently they were preparing for the fireworks display to mark the end of the Festival. Impressive display I might add. Thanks for the feedback.

I love the second one as well - beautiful countryside.

I think the 2nd shot is helped by the road leading your eye through the shot. The 1st image is busy everywhere with no real focus or direction for your eyes to follow through. I think landscapes tend to work better when you have specific points of interest to focus on or use as visual reference points.
