These were taken yesterday morning with the D600 and 24-85mm "kit" lens.

Amazing shots! I loved the first one, but really it's hard to pick a winner, all of them are incredible, good job! :D

Great set particularly with the autumn colours starting to show in the trees.

Cheers

Thanks everyone. I'll be trying to get a sunset for the assignment, assuming we have some more dryish days before the end of October! Here is the first sunrise pic from the same morning as above. I had literally just got to the top of the hill and set the gear up when the sun began to appear. I cut it a bit too fine. The pic is heavily cropped again but this time I have done nothing else. I would be interested to know which you prefer.

Looks really nice but I prefer the first one you posted, just my opinion :)

Yep i agree with Pierovera - the first one is a much stronger composition and better color mix in my opinion.

A good set of reasons to get up early in the morning. Why are so many good shots taken at extreme times of day?

Thank you for the opinions re the sunrise. My son said likewise.

Re shots at extreme times of day, to me it comes down to the light you can get then, espcially in the morning. Added bonuses are that elements such as mist burn off quite quickly (usually); shadows can be interesting; and there are few other people around if you are looking to take pics without any in them.

Thanks again for comments.
