Thanks Guys! And, yes, it has been cold, but not too bad around here (or at least not bitter cold for long periods of time...) They are adding all kinds of wind farms here too, but so far, not too many in Lake Michigan. They have been having a lot of arguments about the windfarms. I do think they can make very interesting subjects for pictures, but they can ruin a view also.

Back to landscapes - without windmills - this is Cave Point (on the Door County Peninsula, Wisconsin, USA) yesterday. Lake Michigan in the background. I've been having problems with Photobucket the past few days so this one is unedited. Canon Powershot SX 150 IS

This creek is also in Door County - I am not sure what the name of it is, but it is close to Cave Point, also taken yesterday. I was very surprised to see one running with open water.

I think #2 has all the elements of a good photo, the contrast between the sky, trees and snow with a winding creek to take you though the scene. I also like the natural colours and find it very relaxing looking at it, nice work.

Cheers

4xxxx. I like that picture too. I actually drove past, saw the scene, and backed up on the road to take a quick shot of the creek before anyone came up behind me. There is just a bit of my car window caught in the lower right corner that I will crop out.

Nelepl, nice shots. In the last grouping I liked the B & W; in this grouping, I like the color. The sunrise (?) picture looks like sunrise here on Lake Michigan. I like the bulldozer picture too.

XNavy- I like the creek shot too. :) Lovely winter scene and I like the blue sky reflection in the water.

Nelepl - love the drama in your photos. Something I hope to achieve in my pictures one day.

Thought I’d post this one for the guys up north and remind you your summer is just around the corner. Taken today at Tallebudgera Creek, an overcast day and around 27C, the water is around 23-24C. Yesterday was all blue sky but I did not think to go another K down the road from the beach I usually go to and got no inspiration to shoot anything.

4xxxx and Richie - ooooh, those pictures look wonderful! Richie, I am not sure what causes it, but the color changed at the edges of your pictures.I do really like the overall picture, and the thought of summer behind them.

Well below freezing here yet. -9 on the Fahrenheit scale this morning. I don't know what happened to my last links, and I have so many pictures from Cave Point that I am not entirely sure which ones I posted now. The cliffs at Cave Point are made of limestone, and when they are covered with ice and snow, it can be difficult to see exactly where the edge is. I went back again this week, and spent over an hour taking pictures. It was very beautiful, but I had to be conscious of the danger at almost every step. I had no desire to plunge into Lake Michigan at this time of the year. Here are a few pictures. Canon Powershot SX 150 IS.

X, Good reflections in #1 and the snow looks crisp in all the set, very nice.

Thanks, 4xxxx. The snow WAS crisp that day - glad the I got the shots! Today will be above freezing and a lot of the snow will melt...again. I'm glad I stopped as every day is a brand new shot.

Hi guys,

I took this photo at dawn high tide, there was no sunrise this morning but some cool waves from the storm which is passing. Manly Beach's famous storm water pipes completely submerged this morning with the slow shutter. I took this just before the high tide swept my lens bag into the water, thank god for waterproof bags :) phew!

Feedback, suggestions, critiques...all welcome :)

If you like my style of photos, check out my FB link.

cheers,
Richie
