Camera Labs

So i have had the trial version of photomatix for some time and recently purchased the program. Here is a go of two pictures i took of our recent trip to Europe. Eiffel tower is trial version hence the watermark and the pont neuf after i bought the full version. I am trying not to "overcook" these HDR as sometimes i think they get a bit too dramatic. Would appreciate some critique if u think it could be improved.

Are they bracketed shots or just single shots tone mapped?

I think you have a couple of really nice shots and they are not overly processed in my opinion.

Did you transfer them to photoshop after photo matrix for any further pp?

Transfered into lightroom for some minor stuff (contrast, exposure adj. etc.)

I always have issues with bracketed shots and people as they always appear ghosted or out of focus.

The only way round I have found is to tone map in photoshop.

I really must gets copy of Lightroom.

Thanks. Lightroom is a great tool for a casual shooter like myself who doesnt need the fancy aspects of photoshop, just a little tweaking. Where I think lightroom is great is the ability to import alot of photos and have them all organized and easy to retrieve at later dates.

This one turned out well but ghosting of moving sujects can be tough and ruin the shot. I think slow moving subjects and fast shutter speeds help

I do like the snaps. Subjects, compositions are very pleasing. I have read and, subscribe to the notion that a great snap is a combination of the best possible handling of all the component parts- subject, composition, lighting, line, form, color, texture, focus, exposure, alignment etc. I find myself challenged to pursue the optimization of each of the component parts of a great snap. Developing the skill set and, then the discipline needed to publish a great snap is hard work. My $.02.

Please consider reposting this subject in the Photomatix topic here. I am interested in the discussion of photomatix techniques, capabilities and, applications.

Moderators, please consider guiding hdr related posts to the hdr topic. Maybe even move hdr related software topics under the hdr umbrella. This subject is very interesting. Having all of the hdr related discussion in one place will help me understand things better. Many thanks!
