Nice set Phil, I was looking at the exif on #2 as all your shots are crisp and sharp. I tried identical setting on my D40X with a 18-200 @24mm, aperture priority @F4, ISO 200. The speed calculated by the camera was 1/1000 which is less than half of your speed of 1/2500. The conditions were similar, bright blue sunny sky, even facing close to the sun I could not attain that speed on aperture priority, removing the UV filter only gave me 1/1250. Looks like the technology changed drastically from the D40X to the D90. I’m looking to make sharper images as I think mine lack this.

Cheers

Did you take the exposure compensation into consideration? I think I dialled in anything from -0.67 to -1.67 while shooting, as there were occasional breaks in the sunlight...

The 24-70 helps as it's very sharp wide open and is stellar by F4. Also, a little unsharp mask in pp (around 40-50%) brings things out even more...

Phil,

I put in the -EV. I Just had a thought, I may have a problem with the sensor. Thanks for the info and look forward to seeing more of your shots.

Cheers
