Thought I'd share some photos. All of these were taken with a Canon Point and Shoot. I wasn't into photography at the time, and didn't have an SLR..

One of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. Couldn't capture it as well as I wanted..

Went snorkelling here, no one was there except us:

Went surfing here at a secluded beach: There was literally no one.. (everyone stays at the crowded touristy place called Kuta)

Lush Waterfalls:

Nice places to stay:

Food was plentiful and delicious.

Plenty to see and do. Beautiful place, nice people, beautiful culture. The best was renting a car and exploring the island on your own.

Beautiful, L_T. Nice captures. Where did you stay - in or around Ubud I take it? I'll be going in September and can't wait!!!

Thanks.

We explored the entire island.. spent about a month there, stayed all over, including Ubud!

Let me know if you need any travel tips. Btw, are you a fan of roast pork?

Intersting shots, very nice, I'm not a fan of food shots but how you captured these made me really look at them, good job.

Cheers

Hi L_T

A fan of roast pork? A westerner living in the Middle East - you bet! It's about $15 US for a pack of 6 slices of bacon here, so bring on the pig!

That's definitely the best thing to do - get a hire car out and just explore. Much easier than taking a taxi or driver as you don't feel bad about stopping wherever you want. All I have to do is get the wife into a spa and I can have some quality Nikon time!

dubaiphil,

I am a fan of Anthony Bourdain, so in order to give this post some context, watch this clip..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFmB9JsVCEM

Slowly Hand Turning the Pig that's been slaughtered in the morning? Slowly rubbed with Coconut water and stuffed with Indonesian Spices?
Wow.

So, naturally, after seeing that clip, I had to fly to Bali and try what Anthony Bourdain said to be the best roast pig he's ever had.

I wasn't dissapointed.
I was so happy to find the place...

Arrived at just the right time..

The skin was truly amazing.. crispier than a chip!

The Balinese spices and flavors were definitely the best. I'll never forget how it tasted.

Solid 10/10. Price for meal? 350,000 Indonesia Rupees... (about $3.50CAD).

Epic meal... The place is soooo good. If you ever make a stop in Bali, be sure to try it.. it's in Ubud!

Thanks for the tip, L_T. I remember that on TV actually, but didn't remember it was Bali! Unfortunately the wife's a veggie, but she'll have to be dragged along!
