C&C welcome...

The scenery seemed amazing when Top Gear went there, but in this photo, personally I think the clouds completely dominate over the landscape.

Great job at keeping your horizon straight.

Great photo from the bottom to the top. The clouds make this photo powerful.

Cheers

I think this is not an usual photo and that is it.
People always try to show how paradisaical it is.
You did a good job in not doing that, which is nice.

You were lucky with good visibility and low tourist numbers, Maiwand! And made the most of it - good shot...

Here are a couple from my visit last September, with a few more on my site...

It was very hazy though.

Thank you all for your comments, it's always encouraging when you receive such positive feedback.

More importantly I think it really helps us all learn and get better to read other peoples comments especially when they are a little critical.

It actually is really nice.
Especially when the other members are strangers.
Even though everybody tries to be formal and polite, I see no reason for people to lie here.

I think switching the first picture to black and white would help with the "clouds are too powerful" issue (which I kind of agree with in its current form). The color pulls the eye away from the clouds and onto the hills, making it hard to figure out what the subject of the photo is supposed to be. They're also very low in the picture to really be a subject.

Black and white would flatten the picture out a bit, and really give it an Ansel Adams feel (esp. if you crop to 4x5  )
