Post subject: Island to Island Tips
PostPosted: Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:41 am
hello guys, I'm going next week to some Islands here in the Philippines, and is worried about bringing my SLR along with me. some people told me that the currents going to those islands are quite strong. plus, i do not have any waterproof gear with me since i dont have the time to buy them.

so can anyone give me some advice on how i can travel with my SLR and it being safe from getting wet.

thanks in advance!!

You can use a plastic bag around the camera so to speak, do a whole in the bag where you can stick ur lens through, and then shoot away! There shouldnt be a problem, and keep the camera in the bag when your not using it! :)

For storage while traveling, I would use canoe bags. They are available from camping, hiking, and outdoor stores. I bought a couple when I was in the Philippines a few years ago for some GPS gear, mobile phone & walkie talkies. They come in various sizes and grades. Make sure you don't get the nylon types - get the plasticy ones. My gear could be used while in the bag, but obviously the camera can't, so canoe bags are good for carrying your gear around in during rain & while on a boat, but if you want to shoot without fear of spray or rain, then maybe PP's suggestion could work.
