A few pictures from pompeii I finally got around to adding to flickr.













It's an amazing place and the scale of it surprised me. It's also quite unsettling at times when you think of the people going about their business only to have a volcano explode and bury them. Happily it wasn't a total surprise as an earlier eruption had caused many people to move away and hence avoid the disaster.

Anyway, well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Yes the last pic is of some pour soul caught in the disaster. It's not a body, but a plaster of paris mould from where the remains were found.

Must have been terrifying!
