Hi folks,

Yes, that's right. Full-frame and 60 megapixels. But before you reach for your blowtorches I'd better mention that full-frame in this context refers to Medium Format and not 35mm.

The full story/rumour is available over at Luminous Landscapes. At $40,000 plus change I'd have to sell the car to finance one of these monsters so I think I'll pass. I can't help chuckling at the thought that the "mine is bigger than yours" bragging isn't just confined to DSLRs though. Hasselblad must be less than well pleased to see this so shortly after their own 50MP H3DII-50 announcement.

Bob.

And I though Sony's upcoming flagship had a mindblowing resolution (24.6). 60 megapixels and 360MB files :!: I'd rather buy a car!

I've actually hear that it will have only 14 megapixels?

I'm not too sure on that though... :?

Is anybody making...very large posters? 'cause if you don't,I don't see the point of any of these high-pixels cameras. Still...cute evolution,I must say. :)

You can stick a PhaseOne back and get approx. 39+ megapixels...

Or stick a PhaseOne back on a Mamiya RZ67.

These sensors are ideal for billboard and posters. You'd be pretty, (excuse me), weird, if you take a "digital" medium format to a wedding or something.

They are used in portraits the majority of the time. Even professional portrait photographers today (celebrities etc') use Medium Format Mamiyas or Hasselblads etc' for their studio portraits. Regardless of how big they print. The sharpness and quality stands out...

Best,
-Sean.

These are purely studio or landscape cameras, too slow for anything else.

PhaseOne just couldn't resist stealing Hasselblads thunder could they?

Hi Sean, just wanted to let you know the megapixel number is official from Sony, here's a quote from this press release:
Quote:
Flagship model system (scheduled for launch by the end of 2008)
- The highest-end α (alpha) product
- Features 24.6M full size “Exmor” CMOS image sensor
- Super SteadyShot® Inside for the full-size image sensor

Should be large files too!

B.t.w.: Reliable sources can be quoted having seen Canon already test 50 MPix FF sensors
