Before the event the Leica website had this teaser in place:
Probably they mean this:
The new "S" is a lot prettier though:
Then there's the M-E (almost identical to the old M9 but a bit cheaper)
The M9 is replaced by the "M" (no number). You can read more about it here
but the big news is a switch to a new CMOS 24 MP Sensor, live view for additional focusing methods – 10x zoom and focus peaking, an optional 1.4 megapixel EVF and 1080p Full HD video capability. Oh, and it won't be available until next year and it may cost €6,200:
All in all a great new line up, perhaps excepting the multicolour X2 Special Edition, although the previously "sort of" promised CSC is notably absent. But the "M" fulfils a lot of that functionality except AF, but there is live view with focus peaking, so maybe Leica is better off without a CSC and the extra burden that such a camera would imply in terms of new lens development. Well done, Leica!
