from what I can tell there is no image stabilization, either.

The stabilisation has to be built-in the lenses. It's available in the 18-55mm lens, but not in the new 20-50mm. I actually found that to be a real problem in my tests and had to reshoot several lowish light handheld shots with the 18-55mm when they were too blurry with the 20-50mm.

Samsung has put the freedom of interchangeable lenses into a quirky design of a camera that looks like an enlarged P&S, with performance only slightly better. I'm not sure what Samsung's goal is here.
