He doesn't have a clue what the price should be for this film camera:

This is what he wrote down for me.

BODY
Minolta Maxxum
450si
Panorama Date

LENS
Tamron AF 28-80mm
Tamron AF 80-210

I'm looking but I can't seem to find much information on this body. Anyone have experience? I told him I'd like him to bring it in for a few snap shots and all that.

The body is out-dated, the lenses are not worth it.
Just say "no", politely...

Quick search on ebay shows asking for $50 to $60 USD. Depends on condition of equipment of course.

LOL... oooh kay. Is this motivated because it's film? Or because it's just not anything special from that era?

Hi platypus I have a dynax SLR 700SI film camera and it's a fantastic unit
but when I purchased the dynax 7D digital camera they were only prepared to give me a small amount for it ! It has a 28-105 zoom lens
and takes very nice color pictures , but all I can say don't pay to much
but by the same token minolta cameras & lenses are very good !
hopes this helps regards decked PS: I'm hanging on to mine!
