Hello, I have a SMC 1:/55 Takumar lens from an old SP 1000. Could I put it on a Pentax K20D body. Would this be a good idea; I mean would I get good results. I suppose I would need an adapter as the lens is a screw-in. How much would this change the focal length. Thanks for your help. Regards, Bert.

You can use it on K20D with the adapter, the only thing is that you need to shoot in manual, since it is old manual lens. Focal length will not change because the adapter is just to give you different mount, it does not have a glass in it. It could change your minimum focusing distance because you are pushing the lens further from the image senor, which means that you should be able to focus closer than usual. But I am not 100% sure about how much since I never have seen screw mount adapter, so I don't know how big it is.

Many Pentax users use old Takumar lenses
