 Post subject: help with flash.

the thing that intrigues me the most is off-camera flash use. i aim to use my flash off-camera ONLY. so i need the perfect mix between the cheapest and reliable flash with manual controls as i don't wanna spend as much for the 430ex (example), what about those vivitars?

my friend use vivitar 2.. something.. it is below $100 and he said it is a good deal for off camera use. the only complain is continuous tiny beeping sound

probably the 285HV... it looks good but i also want a flash which i can use on the camera aswell...
