After many years of excellent service, my beloved F717 has developed a fault.

I can frame up on the display and all is well until I half press. The display then ghosts the image and there are thin horizontal white lines running through the whole display. Full press results in the recorded image being identical to the half press display.

Does anyone have an idea of what has gone wrong? Is it fixable or do I now have an elegant paper weight?

Joey, I am ultra careful with this camera. It lives in a very secure bag and is kept at low humidity. If it was water, it is unlikely that it wouldn't become apparent until the half press.

condensation....maybe(condition room  humid area)
but since you have stated that you kept it in a low humidity environment
it's just a guess....however exposure to water can cause the display to ghost

could be aging?? :((battery leakage?)
