Hey guys,

I have got a Sony A200 and I am looking at buying a battery/portrait grip...

I noticed that there are 2 types. one for a200 a300 & a350 and one for a700.

If I was to purchase the grip for the a700 will this be compatible with a200?

The reason i ask is that i may pgrade my camera and it would be nice to be able to use the same grip as I could with the lenses?

Any Ideas?

I believe the grips are different as the cameras have different sizes/placements of bits where they fit. So the wrong one wont fit.

If you get the correct one for now, remember you can still recover some of the value by reselling if you later upgrade.

BG30 only goes with the A200, the A300 and the A350 whereas the BG70 only goes with the A700 :D

The VG-C70AM (corrected you Joey  ) grip is only compatible with the Alpha 700 (not with the future A900 either). You'll have to get the VG-B30AM for your A200 (or A300/A350).
See the Alpha compatible Lenses and Accessories guide for more info!

Congratulations! 100 posts, I see you're at 114 already.
Coming closer to 1100 myself...

The BG for battery grip makes sense. However, the VG is short for vertical grip, which is what they're often called.
