Hmm, Bjorn, how's your A700 review coming up? Pardon me but me thinks you haven't been on very much lately, even I have surpassed your post count! :P

Ah yes, the review. I wondered when somebody would ask. Well, being a bilingual student still, I get quite some homework (especially the last few months). So time to post here on cameralabs and to produce a userreview of the A700 is reduced. I do want to do it still, but I'm not sure when.
Maybe I should start with a review of the HVL-F42AM flash first, that's easier and I'll learn how to make a review. I'll see.

I have just posted a review of the HVL-F42AM flash, for those who are interested. Here's the link.

Hi there, I was wondering if you could confirm the a-700's having an HDR optimizer mode on this model? I have seen some wicked photos with this camera and this apparent mode used, and I am considering switching to this model.

Thanks

kona

I haven't really used the DRO very much, I rather do that kind of work later with Photoshop. But it's definitely a nice feature to have if you'd use it, it can save you quite some work later on.

So, after weeks of doubt...going big, going small.. should it be Canon, Nikon..or perhaps Olympus, I finally purchased the Sony A700 + CZ16-80 and it is comfortably sitting on my desk.

Thanks Björn, for sharing your user experience. It pushed me forward in my decision. 8)

Not a problem Martin (as long as you type my name without ö :D ).
Answered your PM with a longer text.
Good luck and lots of fun: getting to know a new camera is great!

New lens? Which new lens? You must be mistaken about me having the 70-200mm already, which, sadly, isn't true (yet). I'm still saving hard and I hope to buy it at the end of September, or beginning of October, depending on when I receive my salary.

Just out of curiosity, did you guys go Sony partially because of the orange color :?:

Anyway, the combination looks great!

The orange color is nice, but I don´t undestand well your question...

Why is it orange? I don´t know, Nikon and Canon are red, Pentax is green, Samsung is blue, Olympus is blue, Sigma is yellow...

Did I go to Sony DSLR for it color?
no, I didn´t, I was a Minolta user and have Minolta lenses and accesories...

Hi Alex,

After seeing the photos from bjorn and martino and their locations, I was thinking if they went Sony partially because of the orange color, which is the national color of the Netherlands.

Sorry I failed to notice you have an A700 as well. That you were a Minolta user makes perfect sense. (Although I was wondering if you can use Minolta lenses on the A700 directly or with a glass adapter)

Sorry for the confusion.

Cheers,
Tony

PS: Does Samsung also make DSLRs? Which mount do they use?
