I like the size of the RX100, but the versatility of the NEX 6. I do enjoy taking pictures, where at times, the backgrounds are blurred and family members stand out in focus; usually from the waist up. Deciding between these 2 cameras, for those of you who have experience with these, which takes pictures with the best/most depth of field (bokeh)? I would probably use the Sony 35mm. F 1.8 prime lens on the NEX. Thank you for your guidance.

The larger APS-C sensor and longer lens focal length (at the same f1.8 aperture) will give the NEX-6 + 35mm f1.8 thinner/less Depth of Field. i.e. more "bokeh".
