Some Minolta era lenses are still popular, and I think the f/1.7 is one of them. The Sony DT f/1.8 has possibly damped interest in it a bit, but it is still an interesting lens for people wanting to go full frame on the cheap. Certainly there isn't a particular need for it if you have the f/1.4. What the market price is these days I don't know.
