Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie to this forum so here goes.
At present I have a Canon S5IS (12x zoom) and am thinking of getting a Sony DSC-HX100v or a Panasonic FZ 100
Any suggestions ?
Does anybody know if Camera Labs is going to do a full review on the Sony HX100v any time soon.

I'd like to, but Sony's supplies down here in NZ are very very slow at the moment. I may have our guy in the Uk see if he can do it...

Thanks for your prompt reply Gordon. I look forward to it with great interest.
It will be good to see how it stacks up to the Panasonic FZ 100.
I visit your site regularly, keep up the good work, thanks again.

I just found your site tonight. I found the evaluations and the "Verdict" so very helpful. Thanks and keep up the great work. Also, I really enjoy the Forums and the thoughtful comments which are contained therein.

However, here we are just past the half way mark of 2011, so I would really appreciate your comparison between the best super-zoom "bridge" cameras from last year with the best of this year. I need to buy one of these in the next month or so.

Thanks again for your outstanding work to date

Thanks for the review Gordon which I read with great interest.

I was surprised at the IQ and in particular the noise results compared to the Canon SX30 IS and the Fuji HS 20 EXR. I also liked the panorama feature as
this will almost do away with stitching on my computer. All in all a great read
and once again a big thank you for your research.

I think i'll get the Sony.

Thanks Gordon for a great review as always.

I have 2 questions:

1)
Quote:
The Cyber-shot HX100V has Optical SteadyShot lens-shift image stabilization which is activated by default, can't be turned off and has no optional settings other than for movie shooting (see the movie section below)

How does the camera behave when put on a tripod? Do you get motionblur from the stabilization?

2) You say in the review, that the HX100V has built in ND filter....what grad is it? ND3, ND8 etc??

Thanks again.

Jákup

Assuming this isn't that different from the HX9V, which detects when it is stationary and a little tripod icon pops up on screen.

Hi popo,

Thanks for the info.

Do you know anything about the built-in ND filter?

Jákup

Gordon

I have not yet bought the Sony HX100V.
With the new Panasonic FZ150 just announced I think it might give the
Sony a run for its money. It seems the IQ on the FZ150 is a good improvement on the previous FZ100.

I look foreword to your possible review of the FZ150 sometime soon.
