Recently, I read a review of the A300 which compared the exposure readings of Optical Viewfinder vs Live View. The review stated that Live View has 1200 reference points that it checks in the scene vs 40 for OVF.

Is using Live View to set your exposure really that must better than the OVF method? Are there any lighting situations were Live View would take a better reading? Would like to know if anyone has any thoughts or experience with this ....

I used to have an a350, so practically the same as a300. But I don't remember any difference in metering at a practical level with them. Live view could have a boosted number of points, since the second sensor used to provide the live view image would also give information about the scene not present in OVF mode.
