PS - another comparison you might enjoy:

I just reviewed the Panasonic Lumix TZ18 / ZS8, the 'budget' version of the TZ20 / ZS10 which shares the same lens and resolution, albeit with a CCD sensor instead of (C)MOS.

I tested it side by side with the TZ20 / ZS10, so you can see for yourself which has the best image quality!

Is the hx9 a contender to consider with the lx5, xz1 ans s95?

there are a lot of comparisons out with several HX9V contenders in the the pack. Mostly the HX9V does doe pretty well.
