Well looking at the initial response and media hype, looks like I was right. A55 will outsel A580 by a big margin.

This is kind of bad news, though, for traditional Sony DSLR future.

Is that based on pre-orders/sales or just media speculation? I've not kept up to date on dyxum to see what's the mood there...

Hi,

The 14.2MP sensor at the heart of the Sony A560 seems to be the same as the NEX3 and NEX5 cameras. Is the same one on the Nikon D3100 too?

Also, is the 16MP sensor on the Sont A580 same as the one on the Nikon D7000 and/or the Sony SLT A-55?

Jinay.

Hi everyone, I've been testing the Sony Alpha A580 and ahead of my full test report, I can share my High ISO Noise results, a selection of HD videos and a look at the Multi frame NR capabilities...

Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 High ISO Noise results!

Thank you Gordon for a very good review of the A580 so far. I am looking forward to your full review as you did the Nikon D7000 which I hope that you will be doing?

I have just bought the A580 and I have to say that its a very good camera for its price and for me its even better because in the UK Sony is giving its customers VAT back :)

My A700 will not be put aside yet because it offers me a lot that my A580 does not but its something I knew before buying my A580.

As you mentioned the MFNR is amazing and its features like this that I enjoy using Sony for.

Your lucky you can even get one, here in Canada they aren’t available, and in the States they are sold-out and on backorder.
I have several friends that are on a waiting list at a border store.

I have to say that I am really enjoying this camera. It is a hell of a camera for the asking price. When I first got it I was 50/50 about it but now I just want to use it all the time (Still love my A700 though ;) )

It's on hold at the moment becuase the sample had to be returned to Sony.

I do have some extended results for it though, so may add these in the future when I have time, but a full review is unlikely now as it's no longer brand new.
