Well, all I knew before the press conference started has basically been posted. I saw the shots of the camera's and lenses, got very excited about that Zeiss 24mm f/2 SSM, but I don't know any specs. All camera's, including the A7xx should have an Exmor R-type of sensor, but with a different name (marketing trick, nobody wants a 'compact'-sensor in their DSLR). 1080 30p AVCHD video is of course a great plus (for me and fellow videography-enthusiasts).

Some news that I can share though, is that the A330 and A380 will be discontinued and replaced by a more traditionally-styled A3xx near the beginning of Q3. More lenses are to come as well. Whether those are also in prototype form, I don't know.

And even though this is, thus far, mostly prototype material, it will not take too long before it actually becomes available.

Now all I need is an A950 with 1080 AVCHD video announcements and I'm gonna have to rob a bank...

Lastly: Be sure to check out my report of the Sony Alpha Demo Day tomorrow, right here in the Sony-section of Camera Labs, where I'll go over the great day I've had to day!

Oh dear...did Sony biff it?

I guess we won't get a really good look at these cameras (specs, price, etc) until Sept. (was hoping by April) which by then will see a 50% reduction in Alpha market share due to mass migrations to the 7D MKII :D (if certain forum comments are to be believed).

At least they seem to be addressing some of the lens issues (which I didn't have a problem with in the first place), although, I thought we would have seen a Tilt&Shift based on the recent Sony patent.

I really hope they know what their doing, particularly with the release window. I guess most should be happy enough because now at least they know a replacement is on the way this year.

FWIW... The A7xx renderings look very nice :D

Hi everyone, Bjorn's posted our official news story now, so I'll lock this thread and ask we continue here. Thanks!
