Hi All,

First time poster. My wife has an A300 and the internal flash is not firing. Is it better to get it fixed or buy an external flash? Is not fixing the internal even an option? We have gone through the menu many times and can't fix the issue. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

If the camera is out of warranty (which i believe so) and the flash is really got damaged and if you do not get any local camera shop who can fix that within $50.00, it is better to think about external flash. Anyway if you send it to sony service center for repair, I believe they will send you a bill of something like $100 or more than that (more likely). External flash "HVL-F20AM" will cost you $104 which is off course better than the in camera flash or you could invest some more money for a better flash. What do you think you should do? Before investing money on external flash you may talk to sony guys for repairing cost and etc and then take your decision. Although internal flash on A300 is somewhat a crap.

Did you set the camera to fire the flash besides opening it up?
