I am thinking about getting the sony alpha 100, if i did would this lens be a nice upgrade when if i get the change to buy it? Its about £100 cheaper than an equivalent focal length lens for the Nikon D40x with the AF feature.

I believe the Sony 18-200mm is a rebadged version of the Tamron or Sigma model.

It is the same Tamron lens, although perhaps the qulity control of the Sony lens be more strict...
