Post subject: New Sony Alpha 950?

I heard Sony is going to announce the new A950 with a new Exmor C Sensor soon. What is this and what will it bring to the 900 series?

That article is about expectations...not even rumours ;). Do you have another source for this?

I'm not sure what to expect from the Exmor R backlit sensor. Some people claim the benefits will most likely only affect small, pixel densed sensors. Don't know if that is true, but it does make sense to me. Off course, any improvement is an improvement, but will it make the A950 necessary for that reason?

In anticipation of the 850 release, I became swept up by the rumors of an Exmor R sensor and what it might mean to the 500/550/850 releases.

Well, here we are a few days after the announcements. Not a single of the various rumors about the cameras using a new sensor turned out to be true. I now understand why so many in the threads who've been through a few forum's new-release rumor/hype discussions seemed so dismissive.

I too am excited for a camera that can take photos virtually in the dark.
I think it's great that Sony is developing tools to increase sensor sensitivity. I think it's great that they didn't move the new sensor technology into the DSLR market before its ready for prime-time.

BUT I think we have to be patient until Sony releases the technology in our preferred format.

For now I'll make sure the reviews of the 850 continue to be positive and get one from a local source when available.

It'd be nice, interesting, but it seems too farfetched for now. Maybe an A1000? There's been rumours on that for some time.
