Hi everyone, I've now published my A7 review and also added big updates to both reviews describing their use with different lenses via adapters, including Canon and Leica. I've also added more detail to the movies section!

Great review and thanks about the info on compatibility of other lenses. I noticed that on the Metabones site they do not currently have the Canon 24-103mm with OIS that you reviewed listed as one of the Metabones adapter compatible lenses for the A7. I think a lot of people would want to use this lens, if they own it, with the A7 instead of the 28-70mm kit lens - at least until comparable glass is available. With the fixed max aperture, it is a better option for video as well as stills compared to the kit lens.

Good news for OS X users.
Apple has released Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.02, this update adds Sony Alpha 7, Sony Alpha 7R RAW file compatibility to Aperture 3 and iPhoto.

Nikon D5300, Nikon Df and Olympus OM-D E-M1 are also supported in this update.

Hi folks,

A couple of reviews concerning using the A7r with third party glass have been published over the last days:

Leica: Using Leica M lenses on the 36MP Sony A7r mirrorless camera

Canon: Sony A7R teams up with Canon glass

It looks as though, with a few caveats, the A7r is a serious contender as a second body for owners of either Canon or Leica systems and, for early adopters of the A7r, Canon glass might be a cost effective stopgap while waiting for the FE lens system to fill out.

Bob.

I'm really interested in the A7 but am nervous about the really small selection of lens choices currently available.

I'd really like a "walking around" lens like the Sony 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 ( http://goo.gl/iABZEs ).

I assume this lens would work on the A7 but you'd have to crop the image to get rid of the dark corners? (I didn't see that the A7 has an "auto-crop" mode).

Thanks

Yes, Bob, The Canon Glass and the A7r through the Metabone Mark III adapter is awesome. I am using an TSE-24 Mark III with the A7r and the focus peaking is a blessing. It makes the whole process of focusing while the lens is titled a much more enjoyable experience. I also tested with the 24-105L, 50mm F1.8 II and the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 VC. All works great.
