Just saying Hi.

I have been trying to decide on my first DSLR for a few weeks now and came across this fantastic site. I thought I had to make a decision between the Nikon D5100 and Canon 600D and thats where I found the awesome differences videos that Gordon produced. I liked the 2 videos so much, I bought him a coffee at his favourite coffee shop (should also be enough for a cake as well )

I am still undecided, but I am thinking of going down a model or two and spending more on some quality lenses. My current point and shoot is a Canon Powershot G7.

I won't ask the question of "What should I buy ?", I am off to trawl through the forums as I can see the question has been asked several times already.

Hi Daz,

May I wish you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.

My own point and shoot is a G10 but I've now decided to leave DSLR land and go for a Compact System Camera (see my Signature below). DSLRs can still do some things better but I don't need the tracking abilities of a phase change auto-focus and I'm prepared to sacrifice a little image quality (but only a very little) in exchange for portability. With the "pancake" zoom I should be able to leave the G10 at home as the E-M5 should fit comfortably in my admittedly fairly capacious pockets.
