Hello,

My name is Dan and love photography. I like taking abstract looking photos of objects in the woods as well as action shots of dogs playing, catching things, etc. I also take photos of clothing that I sell on ebay. The only problem is I currently do all this with a smart phone Haha!

I do actually get some decent results using my smart phone believe it or not.

However, I'm ready to move on to a DSLR. I have a budget of about $700. The features that I'm looking for in a camera are, good macro pictures, good action shots, good low light photos, and just overall clear pics Oh yea, decent video would be a plus as well.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

As for macro, how close do you want to get? If it's below a few cm, you'll need a macro lens for any DSLR and that will greatly increase your price. But an interesting alternative is a point-and-shoot with a close focusing distance as many of these are fantastic for macro shots.

But for low light, you can't beat a DSLR - or a camera with a big sensor.

Thanks for the reply. I actually found this forum VIA that review page. I looked over the "budget DSLR" section but was still a little unsure which one would be best for what I need.

The macro shots I want to take are not that close.. 1" is about as close as I'd need to get.
