Camera Labs

Hi,
Just registered on the forum as I'm new to DSLR photography having previously only used compacts. I found the site after viewing some of Gordon's excellent videos whilst searching the net for tips and advice..

I seem to have spent hours reading and watching videos as I'm determined to get to grips with my 500D.. Unfortunately things aren't going to plan as although i have an understanding of the basics I've been less than impressed with my results so far...

I got up at 4:30am yesterday and headed to the beach in the hope of capturing a nice sunrise over the sea... Although the photo's looked ok on the viewer once home i quickly realised they were all rubbish once again and were quickly dispatched to the bin.

Like most of my previous trips out with the camera, although the results have been disappointing it hasn't been a complete waste of time as I'm at least mostly understanding what I'm doing wrong...
I guess I'll just keep plugging away and hope i get there in the end...

Anyway hope to get to know some of you on what looks like an excellent forum..
