Good Morning from the Pacific Northwest.

I found this forum while looking for info on lenses. Looks like a good place, so I registered and hope to learn lots and ask lots of questions. I had previously stopped by a couple of other forums that didn't get much traffic...or answers to questions.

I've been using various more and less sophisticated P/S for years, 2 Panasonic and 2 Canons. I'm now getting ready to buy a first dSLR (Nikon). I like to shoot mostly nature, flowers and critters and such, so I'll be wanting to be able to see a bird far away as well as a backyard mushroom close-up. I like to use a tripod--I find I'm a bit shaky without it.

I have lots of Nikon-specific questions, general questions about choosing lenses, and post-processing.

I look forward to talking with you folks, and I'll help others where I can.

Thanks

Welcome from the other side of the country :-)

Just a note on what your looking for - you've indicated your needs across a wide variety of lenses - with bird photography, telephoto lenses are used and with close up photography, macro lenses are used. With wide angle and standard lenses between these. But anyway, the purpose of this thread are not to discuss lenses, we'll save that for later.

Hello, and a warm welcome from Winnipeg!

I'm sure that we'll be glad to answer your questions in the Nikon forum section regarding all of the lenses that you're looking at.

Talk to you soon,
-Evan
