Hello everyone!

I have been very interested with technology for quite some time now, that includes all three C's, namely computers, cameras and cars. I am sure many men also like these C's.

Quite some time ago, I owned a Pentax SFXn film camera. A little while later, digital cameras started coming out. I still took many pictures but as developing the pictures became more and more expensive, I made a switch to a digital camera, a compact one, Canon's IXUS 400, a model of Canon digital that is very old now. I also got an Olympus later on but realise this compact cannot match the IXUS sometimes(I suspect the Olympus lacks an infrared sensor) even though the Canon only has 4 Mega Pixels while the Olympus has 10 Mega Pixels.

Just four months back, I got a Canon EOS Kiss X4. I am surprised with the quality of the images of the Digital Single Lens Reflex, because all these time I have been keen on travelling light everywhere and using a compact for photography instead. Before I bought the EOS 550D, I have been reffering to many reviews, including Camera Labs. Even after I got the DSLR, I still reffered to Camera Labs and got a lot of useful information out of this website. Since I am back to SLR photography, or more accurately DSLR photography, I hope to learn more and continue from where I left behind back then when I switched to compacts for photography. However, I am still a little not keen on bringing something I cannot place in my pocket to travel around-the DSLR(I understand the EOS 550D is very light already). Never mind, I am pretty much used to it already.

I hope I can master more photography skills through this website and of course also see more fantastic reviews from Camera Labs, and also become part of the community! Thanks for reading!

Hi BNLee,

May I wish you a warm welcome to the CameraLabs forum.

Good to hear you are so pleased with your Kiss X4. I also think there's room to own a compact as well as a DSLR for those occasions when a DSLR is just too conspicuous or bulky.

Bob.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I'll do my best to learn from this site.

@RageRiot, yes, it is warm here everyday, but don't be jealous because I am jealous that there is snow over there too!

Hello BNLee, we're happy to have you as a new Cameralabs member! Be sure to read the House Rules as well!

Don't be jealous of snow; it's great for the first day or two, but after that it just becomes a pain in the neck to shovel! :)
